HMD Global, the company that makes Nokia-branded phones today, has officially announced the launch of the budget-friendly Nokia 2 smartphone.
The device is a budget device, but uses a 6000-series aluminium frame and packs in a 4,100 mAh battery that Nokia claims will power the phone for two days straight. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 Mobile Platform and includes 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. Storage can be upgraded by 128 GB via a microSD card.
The display is a 5-inch LTPS LCD display with an HD resolution. This is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The back is made from polycarbonate.
For cameras, you get an 8 MP unit on the rear and a 5 MP unit on the front. The device will be running Android Nougat at launch and will be upgraded to Oreo.
The device supports CAT4 LTE speeds and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. Dual-SIMs are supported via a hybrid SIM slot that can hold nano-SIMs. A micro USB 2.0 port is at the bottom and the headphone jack is at the top.
At the event, Nokia said that the company now wants to focus on the affordable price segments in the country.
The device will arrive in mid-November at a global average retail price of €99. The official India price for the device is yet to be revealed.
The Nokia 2 will be available in Pewter/Black, Pewter/White and Copper/Black.
