No Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified

One of the biggest features of the newest version of Activision’s first person shooter (FPS) – Call of Duty: Black Ops II – is the inclusion of a Zombies game mode, where you team up with other players to defend against waves of undead creatures. According to Eurogamer, the Zombies game mode will not make it into the PlayStation Vita game Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified.

Community Manager of Activision, Dan Amrich, has said that the multiplayer component of the game takes priority. “That makes sense to me,” he continued. “This is the first Call of Duty game on Vita, and it needs to deliver on its core strengths - arguably, multiplayer gaming with twin-stick controls in a portable format. That’s the core experience, and that simply needs to come first… There’s always a list of things you want to do and things you need to do, and at the end of the day, realistic goals are the ones that people actually attain. So we’ll see what the future brings for Zombies, but for Declassified, it’s an MP focus first and foremost.”

The Zombies mode for Black Ops II recently got a trailer. It will feature a full Zombies-based campaign that will have the player going to different locales. Also shown are the weapons that will be in the game mode, which includes futuristic weapons, and weapons making a comeback from Call of Duty: Black Ops.

It was previously revealed that Black Ops 2 will have a single player Zombies mode, which the trailer seems to hint towards. All of the games in the Call of Duty series starting from Call of Duty: World At War included an incredibly popular game mode called Zombie mode. The mode, in which players team up to fight hordes of zombies, has been a fan favourite in all the Treyarch Call of Duty games.

The game got a trailer last month that showed some of the features of the multiplayer mode. While the basics don’t seem to have changed much from Black Ops or Modern Warfare 3 with the constant action and rewards for doing almost anything, there are some interesting things such as some of the sci-fi stuff in the game, including mechs, and what appear to be EMP grenades.

The previous game in the Call of Duty series was Modern Warfare 3, which was released last year. While gameplay stayed very much the same as previous iterations, the stakes had been raised significantly, as the game’s protagonists had to deal with the looming threat of World War III. If you have played previous CoD games, specifically the Modern Warfare series, Modern Warfare 3 will be familiar territory with non-stop balls-to-the-wall action and cinematic set-pieces.

The Call of Duty series originally dealt with events during World War II. After the unsuccessful Call of Duty 3, developers Infinity Ward shook things up by making Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. This game saw a large amount of success and sealed the fate of World War II based shooters.

After Modern Warfare, developers Treyarch made Call of Duty 5: World At War, which took the series back to its World War II roots. The game went for a more violent and gruesome depiction of World War II, and added new weapons such as the flamethrower. The game also added a new game mode featuring zombie Nazi soldiers.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is set to release on 12 November 2012 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The game will also be available for the Wii U.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
