ZDNet AU has reported that Microsoft has no plans to offer its upcoming customer OS Windows Vista, as a download option through its Windows Marketplace website for the Australian region.
This also directly affects the new upgrade service, dubbed Windows Anytime Upgrade (which allows users to switch between versions of Vista by buying a registration code online) as this service is available as a component of the Windows Marketplace.
Considering the Windows Marketplace caters only to the US and Canadian markets, one could have hoped that for its new OS, Microsoft would make an exception. By excluding Australia, it wouldn’t surprise us if the European and Asian markets are also left in the lurch.
