Hello Games rolled out patches for PC and PS4. The Steam and GoG versions of the game were updated first, and the patch arrived on PS4 a few hours later. The PC patch was released on the experimental branch of the game on Steam, prior to a roll out to everyone. There are no patch notes accompanying any of the updates, although Hello Games founder Sean Murray promised that the detailed patch notes will be available “soon.” Meanwhile, there are this sparse details available in a tweet.

The patch seems to be mostly fixing performance and stability issues. Apart from from announcing the patches, Hello Games also seems to be addressing major problems people are facing with the game. Although there are no public details on the number of people playing the game, 99 percent of these players can play without problems on the server. For those unable to play, the three main issues have little to do with No Man’s Sky.

Players attempting to play the game without installing Visual C++ Redist 2010 cannot get the game up and running. The latest drivers for nVidia and AMD cards are needed for the game to run smoothly. Finally, an under-powered graphics card can cause problems. Open GL version 4.5 is needed to play the game.
