Nikon announces mirrorless Nikon 1 V3 with hybrid AF system and 20fps continuous shooting

Nikon announced its latest mirrorless compact system camera - the Nikon 1 V3 - which will come with a Hybrid autofocus system and promises world’s fastest continuous shooting mode of 20 fps with full autofocus. [caption id=“attachment_219862” align=“aligncenter” width=“620”] ![Nikon 1 V3 houses an 18.4MP CX-format CMOS sensor with EXPEED 4A image processor](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/WP_20140305_0011.jpg) Nikon 1 V3 houses an 18.4MP CX-format CMOS sensor with EXPEED 4A image processor[/caption]   In terms of design, the Nikon 1 V3 looks quite different from the spartan Nikon 1 V1 and the relatively hefty Nikon 1 V2. The metallic body has a decent grip in the front and you can also add on an additional grip which Nikon plans to sell separately. It sports a 3-inch 1.037 million-dot touchscreen LCD screen which is tiltable by 180 degrees. [caption id=“attachment_219860” align=“aligncenter” width=“620”] ![The Nikon 1 V3 has a 180-degree tilting 3-inch 1.037-million dot touchscreen LCD](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nikonv3_6.jpg) The Nikon 1 V3 has a 180-degree tilting 3-inch 1.037-million dot touchscreen LCD[/caption]   The 1 V3 houses an 18.4 MP CX-format CMOS sensor with no low-pass filter along with the EXPEED 4A image processor. The ISO range goes from 160 to 12,800. It comes with a hybrid AF system, which has 171 contrast-detect AF points and 105 phase-detect AF points.   But Nikon seems to put speed up front as far as the V3 is concerned. It boasts of 6 fps continuous shooting for up to 50 shots with the mechanical shutter. It also boasts of a 20fps continuous shooting mode with AF tracking and upto 40 shots with the electronic shutter. With the focus locked, the continuous shooting rate can go upto 60 fps. A quick look at its promotional video positions it as a camera for sports photography. [caption id=“attachment_219864” align=“aligncenter” width=“620”] ![You can add in an optional electronic viewfinder DF N1000 atop the Nikon 1 V3](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nikonv3_10.jpg) You can add in an optional electronic viewfinder DF N1000 atop the Nikon 1 V3[/caption]   On the video front, the V3 is capable of recording Full HD video at 1080/60p with Movie e-VR (Electronic Vibration Reduction) which helps to eliminate camera shake. Full-time continuous AF is also possible during video recording, helping maintain critical HD focus. The V3 can also capture slow motion video at 120 fps at 720p HD. Additionally, users can capture full resolution still images during video recording. Nikon 1 V3 also features built-in Wi-fi connectivity allowing you to share images to your mobile devices. [caption id=“attachment_219870” align=“aligncenter” width=“603”] ![Nikon also announced the 1 NIKKOR VR 70-300mm (189-810mm equivalent) f/4.5-5.6 lens](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/VR_70_300_TR_a.jpg) Nikon also announced the 1 NIKKOR VR 70-300mm (189-810mm equivalent) f/4.5-5.6 lens[/caption]   Along with the V3, Nikon has also released two new lenses. The 1 NIKKOR VR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 (189-810mm equivalent) comes for Rs 64,950 and the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD-ZOOM (27-81mm equivalent) comes for about Rs 8,450. Apart from this there is an optional grip that Nikon has announced which gives you an extra grip, a front dial, shutter button and an additional function button, but lacks a battery compartment.   The Nikon 1 V3 along with the 10-30mm kit lens, DF-N1000 EVF and the GR-N1010 extra grip will set you back by $1,200 or approx Rs 73,500. It will start selling from April onwards.
