Nikon launches a new entry-level D3400 with two new telephoto lenses

Nikon launched the newest entry-level DX-format DSLR, D3400. The latest camera comes equipped with Bluetooth for easy connectivity with smart devices to instantly share the images on social platforms. The connectivity is dubbed as ‘SnapBridge’ which allows the photos to be automatically transferred to the paired smartphone or tablet. ‘SnapBridge’ technology eliminates the need to reconnect for each image transfer and the connection is even maintained when the camera is turned off. The sync of photos allows image data including GPS data to be updated without any issues with automatic EXIF data embed. [caption id=“attachment_330573” align=“aligncenter” width=“640”]  Image Credit: Nikon[/caption] However, One thing to note is that RAW photos can not be transferred to the paired device instead, 2MP equivalent photos of the original JPEG photos are transferred to the device along with thumbnails. The D3400 integrates a DX-Format CMOS sensor for better low-light performance which has expanded the maximum ISO range to 25600. The camera caters to vloggers and content creators with support for Full HD in 1080/60p formats. The camera also comes with a dedicated Guide mode to help budding photographers along with other options to retouch and add special effects to the photos. The device comes with a better battery and can last one full day with battery backup of up to 1,200 shots on one full charge. In addition to the improved battery, the camera is lighter and more compact that its predecessor. [caption id=“attachment_330576” align=“aligncenter” width=“640”]  Image Credit: Nikon[/caption] D3400 will be available from last week of September 2016 with a kit lens, AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55 with f/3.5-5.6G lens or the newly introduced AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm at f/4.5-6.3G ED VR lens. The company introduced AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300 at f/4.5-6.3G ED in addition to the VR variant of the lens. Both lenses are technically telephoto zoom lenses compatible with DX-Format cameras with 4.3x zoom covering the equivalent angle to 105-450 in FX-Format and 35mm format cameras. These lenses have adopted a stepping motor in order to ensure quiet and fast Auto-Focus, which will benefit the video recording done by the camera. Kazuo Ninomiya, Managing Director, Nikon India said, “At Nikon, we have always believed in designing lenses that combine innovative optics and lighter packaging. The new telephoto zoom lens will join our DX-format range, and this will definitely provide our users a new focal length experience which also comes with smooth autofocus operation from the stepping motor. Not only this, the ED glass element will also add to an enhanced photography experience for our users.” The lenses will be available from last week of September 2016. There is no announcement on the pricing of both D3400 and the two lenses.
