Say hello to two new point-and-shoot from Nikon - Coolpix P7800 and Coolpix S02. The P7800 is a better looking successor to the Coolpix P7700, while the compact Coolpix S02 aims at simplicity with its design and features built to serve the low-end market.

The Nikon Coolpix P7800 has a whole new electronic viewfinder, a vast improvement over the optical ones that came with Nikon cameras before last year’s flagship P7700. It features a new, high-resolution, approximately 921k-dot (VGA) LCD with diopter adjustment function and frame coverage of 100 percent, as well as a 3-inch vari-angle TFT LCD monitor with wide viewing angle for which the RGBW system has been adopted.

The newest Nikon compact comes with both automatic and advanced features, presenting a high-powered, intuitive option that gives you both great quality pictures and control over the camera. The camera is packed with a large 1/1.7-inch 12.2-megapixel backside-illuminated CMOS sensor as well as a maximum aperture f/2.0-4.0 glass lens. It also has a versatile 7.1x zoom range (28-200mm equivalent) and will let you take images and Full-HD 1080p videos even in low-light shooting scenes. The camera will come with a lens-shift Vibration Reduction in the lens that will let you take steady images even while shooting handheld or moving.

The Coolpix P7800 will allow you to take continuous images at 8fps for up to six shots. It will come equipped with full manual controls (P,S,A,M) and the ability to capture RAW files, so you can edit the uncompressed images later on.

The Coolpix S02 on the other hand is touted to be the smallest and lightest digital camera in the Coolpix lineup. It is equipped with a CMOS sensor and an effective count of 13.2-million pixels and a NIKKOR lens. It also comes with a large, 2.7-inch LCD monitor for simple operation and also serves as a handy screen for playback.
