Let’s put the iPhone 5S and 5C rumours on the backburner and talk about our favourite rumoured product from the house of Apple – the iWatch. Even while the world has trained its eyes on the upcoming iPhone releases, Apple is quietly going all guns blazing towards developing the iWatch and has apparently hired Nike FuelBand developer Jay Blahnik for the project.

According to a report by 9to5Mac, Blahnik, who is also a renowned fitness expert and instrument consultant, confirmed his new role at Apple in a tweet. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed – since that would also mean confirming the mythical smartwatch is in works – Blahnik will be developing the iWatch.

The biggest hint of the iWatch having a FuelBand connect was tossed by Apple’s CEO Tim Cook at the D11 event by AllThingsD earlier this year. Sporting a Nike FuelBand himself, Cook lauded Nike for coming up with a wearable like this. Cook was talking about the world of wearables and he suggested several times that the wrist was an area that was worth exploring. He also said that Apple was keenly looking at biometrics sensors in this space.

With the success of the Nike FuelBand, especially with its connect with iOS devices, it looks like Blahnik is the best choice for helping Apple develop a great wearable device. He has experience and potential on his side, after all. There are a lot of hopes pinned on Apple as it tries to work on a device slightly different than what its catalogue offers right now, and the Cupertino-based company would want to make all the right moves while producing it.

When not tweeting or writing about the next viral video, you will hear her proclaiming her love to Metallica, James Hetfield, Opeth, Akerfeldt and all bands that go 'growl'. She also obsesses about ACP Pradyuman and South Park and you will always find her moving around with a book. Her focus is on all the happening stuff in the tech domain, and she won't hesitate to take a shot at some of the oddball devices that make their way to our labs.
