Niantic labs, the creators of the internet rage, Pokémon GO have updated the game to add new features and improved stability. The AR game has seen a steady decline after it peaked the public interest immediately after the launch.

The company has added features that were previously mentioned to ensure that the users stay engaged with the game. These features include 'Buddy Pokémon,' support to Pokémon GO Plus among other important bug fixes essentially to tune the user experience.

Buddy Pokémon feature was announced a week ago and this enables the users to selected a Pokémon as your buddy. The Pokémon walks and travels with you just like 'Pikachu' in the animated series. The users earn candies for the time they walk with their buddy Pokémon. The users can swap buddy Pokémons at any time.

In addition, Pokémon GO Plus support adds support to the wearable accessory announced in June. The device will help players find Pokestops and Pokémon by notifying them without the need to keep using their smartphones. The accessory will be available starting September 16 in most countries.

The addition of features and improved stability of the game is all good, but it is not all good for everyone. The company has decided to lock players with rooted (Android) and jailbroken (iOS) devices. The game refuses the player to log in the game and simply throws up a warning "This device, OS, or software is not compatible with Pokémon GO" as reported by Android Police. Guys at Android Police have gone ahead and outlined a process to enable Pokémon GO on rooted Android devices.

Even though the logic behind banning rooted or jailbroken users is understandable as users can spoof GPS and cheat using Xposed modules. But these are a large majority of rooted users that would not have cheated on the game. Previous versions still work on rooted and jailbroken devices. However, the latest version is a considerable improvement regarding stability as it does not hang or freeze the app on network switching.
