Niantic has put up job listings on its website that gives some more hints about where Niantic is headed. Pokémon Go servers tend to crash regularly because of the immense load. The popularity of the game is unprecedented , and even Niantic did not anticipate such a growth. Hacking groups OurMine and Poodlecorp have been attacking the servers with dedicated denial of service ( DDoS ) attacks. A heads up, Poodlecorp has scheduled a 1 August DDoS attack against the Pokémon Go servers. The game still has to be rolled out in many countries, particularly in Asia. Niantic CEO has said that servers are their number one priority when discussing the future updates lined up for Pokémon Go . Niantic is hiring one person to take care of the Pokémon Go servers. Applicants should be familiar with Java and Google Cloud. Google Cloud is a natural host for Pokémon Go as Google’s parent company Alphabet, spun out Niantic from Google. However, the listing also mentions that experience with Amazon Web Services ( AWS ) is highly desired. This could mean that Niantic will actually be taking up on the Amazon’s Chief Technology Officer and Vice President’s offer to help. https://twitter.com/Werner/status/751511267702087680 Niantic will be using machine learning and artificial intelligence to improve the gameplay experience. They are hiring a machine learning engineering to do this. There are a bunch of jobs for **Unity** developers and designers. A Mobile Software Engineer listing describes the job is to “Create mobile real-world MMO experiences on Android and iOS”. This could be exciting as Niantic could be using the momentum to create another game, one with more MMO gameplay features. We are hoping this is the Harry Potter version of Pokémon Go based on the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie_._ The most exciting job on offer is “Global Community Manager, Pokémon GO.” This means that there will be someone in charge of the social experience, and it is just great that Niantic is going to do more for social aspects of the game. The community manager will have to understand ethos of the franchise as well as how online gaming communities work. We feel the best person for the job is ex SpaceTime Studios Director of Community, Alex Leary. However, Leary is already working as a Senior Producer at The Pokémon Company. If you feel you can take on the job of maintaining the servers, check out the job listings here.
