Hate speech is everywhere on social media and more often than not, reporting it isn't the easiest thing to do. For this very reason, an app aimed at combating hate mongering, particularly on social media, has just been launched.
Citizens of Justice and Peace (CJP), a Mumbai-based NGO has just launched 'Hate Hatao', an app which lets users report cases of hate mongering, with the NGO stepping in to help take the complaints to the concerned authorities. CJP states that the complaints won't only be raised with concerned social media websites but also with the likes of the NHRC, Press Council of India, National Broadcasters Association and other law enforcement agencies.

"Our vision and mission is to create a committed band of peace volunteers on the ground to prevent hate-related violence," said Teesta Setalvad, CJP secretary while launching the app at a day-long conclave.
"The main purpose of this app is to enable people to report cases of hate speech, threats and hate crimes with evidence like screenshots, videos or pictures," she added.
The app will be available only for Android users currently and should show up on the Google Play Store starting 30 January.
