The world’s first completely cloud-based smartphone is getting a big update. Running a customised version of Android, the update brings the latest version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and a host of improvements in terms of performance and day-to-day stability. Key among all of those improvements are the camera which is supposed to finally make the camera functional. Other bits of the update bring improved performance and better battery life (considering that this smartphone frequently connects to the cloud). Another big improvement is to do with the audio, which according to The Verge has now been tuned by Arkamys, a French audio firm. The new sound processing engine is supposed to enhance the audio output of the Robin’s dual front-facing speakers and the audio via the heaphone jack as well. Apart from the usual Android 6.0 updates, the company has even added a set of ringtones that have been specially designed by DJs Giraffage and Lauren Lo Sung. The same ringtones can however be downloaded via the Nextbit forums as well. For now, the Nextbit Robin probably sits in the hands of select few as the company has yet to launch its smartphone in the India. The launch as per earlier news was slated for the end of April.
