The next DLC for BioWare’s space opera, Mass Effect 3, will have a co-op game mode that will incorporate the players’ progress from the single-player campaign. This includes things like Paragon/Renegade points, reputation choices, and major decisions made throughout the game’s campaign, according to Gamespot. Details about the DLC were uncovered by Clevernoob forum poster TSA_383 from the bug-fix patch BioWare released recently. There are also references to new weapons, including an ultra-light shotgun, assault rifle, and pistol materials for multiplayer.
The next DLC will have a co-op campaign?
The information here is similar to what was posted by a Reddit user recently. According to the post, the description of the DLC—dubbed Reckoning—is as follows: "The day of reckoning is nigh! The Reckoning Multiplayer Expansion brings six new never before seen co-op story missions to the game and new co-op gameplay modes. It provides four new maps to conquer and hazard variations of the Earth maps. It also enables reinforcement packs that offer new kits for the salarians, krogans, humans and volus. In-game reinforcement packs now include three new weapons (Chakram Launcher, Blood Pack Punisher and Adas Anti-Synthetic Rifle)."
The last major DLC for Mass Effect 3 was Omega. The DLC has fan-favourite Asari charcter Aria T'loak join your squad as you retake Omega—a settlement for some of the poorest and meanest in the galaxy. The Omega DLC marked a big day for the Mass Effect franchise as it was the first time players got to interact with a female Turian. It is also the biggest and most expensive DLC that BioWare has released for Mass Effect 3.
In November, BioWare had revealed that the Wii U version of Mass Effect 3 will not be getting the major DLCs BioWare has released so far, including Leviathan and Omega. An official statement form the Mass Effect Twitter account said, "Unfortunately it will not be available for the Wii U." When asked whether any DLC would be making an appearance on the Wii U version of the game, EA replied saying, "Never say never :)".
In December, it was revealed that BioWare isn't slacking off with its next DLC for the game. According to an earlier report, BioWare is now working on its next major DLC with a bigger writing team and with the core members of the original Mass Effect 3 staff. The next DLC's development will feature a writing team comprised of eight people, including lead writer Mac Walters.
"It's all hands on deck for this one. Pretty much every Mass Effect 3 DLC writer here in Edmonton is involved," BioWare designer Jos Hendriks wrote on the company's official forum. "If my math skills are correct [that means] eight."
Other Mass Effect 3 developers are also coming back for the DLC, like Chief Composer Sam Hulick. Hulick was absent from the development of the last two DLCs for ME3. "What I'm up to lately: working on an unannounced Mass Effect 3 DLC!” He wrote on Twitter. "More details on this coming later on."
Seth Green will also be returning to lend his voice to characters. The actor has been voice actor of Normandy's pilot, Joker, since the first game. This would be the first time Green will be voice-acting for the game since Mass Effect 3.
