MojoPages combines a comprehensive business directory with Web 2.0 technologies; Imagine YellowPages, MySpace and YouTube, all rolled into one. Founded by 28-year-old serial entrepreneur, Jon Carder, the search tool ranks businesses according to reviews and ratings provided by members of the community.
MojoPages connects consumers with one another in their local areas and digitizes word-of-mouth by combining online business listings with social networking. Users can retrieve directions, address, phone numbers, coupons, pictures, videos, hours of operation, etc. on 15 million businesses from across the United States. Consumers seeking guidance or advice in choosing a vendor can enlist the assistance of the community to help make the best decisions.
The site also offers local reviews with video and photo capabilities. Alongside a review of the new restaurant in town, reviewers can post a video clip of their experience by uploading from a phone, camera or computer. Users reading the review will be able to watch a business come alive through video and pictures and get a more accurate idea of ambiance, portions, etc. There’s also a Q&A feature where members can post questions to the entire community. If they prefer feedback from only their trusted friends, they can create a network exclusive to those trusted friends, within the MojoPages community. If exclusivity isn’t a concern, members can join groups with members who share similar interests.
Members can compile a list of favorites (“Username”.mojopages.com), located as a separate page within the site, making it accessible anytime.
