New trailer for Hitman: Absolution showcases 'Kill Mode'

The Hitman series is one of the most popular game franchises since the last console generation. The latest game in the series, titled Hitman: Absolution, recently got a new trailer that showcases the ‘Kill Mode’ in which you can get away with killing enemies. Hiding bodies is one of the most important things to do in Hitman games as the games are primarily stealth based. The trailer shows some of the ways you can kill people without anyone knowing.

One of the important ways to kill people in the Kill Mode is making the killing look like an accident. This ranges from hooking up an exposed electrical wire to a fence to electrocute the next person to touch it, to making surgical equipment malfunction and kill the patient on the spot. Other ways include the incredibly cartoonish idea of dropping heavy objects on your targets.

While the game is stealth based, it is not exactly impossible to play guns blazing. The game supports the Rambo gameplay style as well, where you can simply take out your Baller pistols and paint the level red. The trailer, as is the norm these days, also features Agent 47 – the main protagonist of the game – walking away from the explosion in slow motion.

IO Interactive had released a similar trailer for Hitman: Absolution back in September. The trailer, titled Tools of the Trade, showed off the wide variety of weapons that will be available at Agent 47’s disposal. These weapons range from 47’s iconic fibre wire – which he uses to take enemies out quietly – to machineguns and his signature steel plated Baller pistols. The game seems to provide for every playstyle, ranging from a master assassin to a crazed maniac with an axe. The trailer also shows that random objects can be improvised into makeshift weapons, giving players the ability to bludgeon enemies to death with a fuel canister.

Guess who’s baaaaaack

Kill people and look stylish - that is Agent 47’s motto

The Hitman series has been one of the more popular stealth action games, where the player takes on the role of Agent 47, a big bald guy in a suit with a barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. Agent 47 is a Hitman for a mysterious organisation known only as The Agency. The games have the player travel around the world, assassinating high profile targets. How one manages to go about doing this is completely up to them. Players have the option to either run and gun through the level as if it’s an action game, or quietly pick off only necessary targets and steal their clothes, hence being able to go deeper into the level without being detected, unless either Agent 47 acts too strangely, or someone finds the corpse of the person whose uniform Agent 47 is wearing.

The games always rewarded stealthy gameplay and minimal violence with a higher rating and more money to upgrade weapons or equipment. Later games such as Blood Money added an extra consequence to going on a wanton killing spree; there would be more security guards on the next level, making it harder, or if someone recognised Agent 47, the next level would be even more difficult.

Hitman: Absolution is the latest entry in the Hitman series of games and will be released in India on November 20 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
