The budget version of the HTC One mini—also known as the HTC M4—may be closer to launch than we think. According to Engadget , a picture of the handset has been leaked, and it looks like a lot of what we’ve heard about the handset earlier is true. In the leaked picture, we can see the HTC One mini side-by-side with a white HTC One. The pictures first showed up on Estonian website Delfi.ee.

Taking notes from Samsung, right HTC?

We have already seen a picture of the handset that was leaked back in May. While the handset looks the same as the One, there are some differences. To keep the price low, it may not be built out of the same aluminium unibody that the One was made out of. It will also have a smaller 4.3-inch screen with a 720p resolution.

Instead of the quad-core processor on the One, the M4 will have a dual-core CPU, but it will still have the same 2GB of RAM. Keeping this alive will be a 1,700 mAh battery. On the memory side, the M4 will only be making an appearance with 16GB of internal memory. Judging by the picture, it also looks like the handset will have the same BoomSound speakers as the One.

The handset is expected to ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and will no doubt bear some sort of “One” branding. It is interesting to note the codename for the handset - the M4. During its development days, the One was codenamed the M7.

HTC has no doubt been taking notes from Samsung. It is following the same business strategy that Samsung has followed. By making its lower-costing handsets look very similar, if not identical to its flagship handset, the company will attract customers who want something as sleek as the One, but are on a tight budget.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
