Music band, OK Go are known for their viral videos. Their latest stint is an interactive music video for their song, “All Is Not Lost”. They have collaborated with Google on this one and have incorporated the use of HTML5 technology. The video is designed to be viewed via Google Chrome and users can view it via a dedicated site. They can enter a message and the band, along with a dance troupe, will dance out that message. The dance troupe that helped out with the video is the Pilobolus troupe and the video was directed by OK Go’s lead singer Damian Kulash’s sister, Trish Sie.
Creating the kaleidoscope effect
The band premiered the video on the New York Times website. The band basically uses their bodies along with the additional dancers’ bodies to recreate the message that users type. The message has to be short and is processor heavy so they suggest that you close all unnecessary programs and browser tabs. The non-interactive video itself is really cool as well, it uses planes and bodies to create a kaleidoscope effect. You can even watch it in 3D using the Nintendo 3DS.
