Days after Nokia’s rumoured Android phone, Normandy, resurfaced with screenshots of its user interface , more details have trickled in about the mythical device. This time, the phone has appeared on AnTuTu benchmark and a couple more screenshots of the phone have appeared. A Chinese website called tieba.baidu.com has thrown up alleged screen captures of Nokia’s first Android pursuit. The handset, referred to as Normandy since the first leak, is being called A110. More importantly, it looks like Normandy will be running Android KitKat version 4.4.1. Since Nokia plans to make this a budget handset, according to rumours, it will be interesting to see how it adopts KitKat, the Android version that is capable of running on phones with lesser RAM. The phone also appears to be running on a 3.4.0 Kernel, hinting at an ART optimisation by Nokia. The screenshots have also revealed that the phone will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor; however, they do not reveal which one. Normandy will also sport a 5-megapixel camera and the screen resolution on the phone is 854 x 480.
The series of rumours and reports started when serial tipster @evleaks tweeted a photo of Normandy, earlier thought to be a Nokia Asha device, hinting at the Finnish company’s Android ambitions. After several questions about whether or not Nokia will be pledging allegiance to Google, despite the fact the Microsoft has purchased its devices segment , the story went cold till @evleaks stepped in again. This week, images of the UI cropped up again, showing Normandy sporting a custom Android UI, which borrows elements from Asha as well as the Lumia platform. Other information we know about Normandy is that it will have dual-SIM capabilities and that the phone may be formally announced by the end of February.
