New leak reveals Samsung Galaxy S7 with a 5.7-inch display, microSD card support and water resistance

The past one month has been pouring leaks and rumours about Samsung’s 2016 flagship devices. According to the latest leak reported by Sammobile, a few more details about the device are out including a 5.7-inch model of the Galaxy S7. The leaked photo reveals that the upcoming smartphone will come with a larger 5.7-inch display with 2560 x 1440 resolution just as the S6 Edge+, refuting the recent rumours of a 5.5-inch display. So, one could be a 5.1-inch model and another a larger 5.7-inch unit. The image also shows a 12.2MP camera, but the device will come with larger pixels than the 16MP sensor seen in the previous device, adds the report. The front camera listed is 5MP, but it is highly speculated that the company will opt for an 8MP front-facing camera. The image also gives a sneak peak into the specs which include 4GB of RAM, Quad-HD display resolution, fingerprint sensor and the highlight could be the powerful Snapdragon 820 processor. A VentureBeat report also reveals that both variants of the Galaxy S7 will feature microSD slots, supporting cards up to 200GB and also brings back dust-and water-resistance capabilities. A previous report said that Samsung is planning to launch two different versions of its new flagship smartphone: a 5.2-inch flat-screen version, and a 5.5-inch, curved-screen version that will be called the ‘Galaxy S7 edge’. Samsung plans to initially make 3.3 million of the flat-screen devices and around 1.6 million of the curved-screen version, the report said, with plans to launch the handset in February, the report added. There is no dearth of varying information about the Galaxy S7, but the creases should iron out and we will get a clearer picture as we approach the Unpacked event in February.
