Japanese multinational Sony may be the latest entrant in the miniaturised flagship bandwagon, according to a leak . Almost every smartphone manufacturer in the market now has smaller versions of their flagships. Be it Samsung, which launched its Galaxy S4 mini , or HTC’s recent introduction to the market, the One mini , companies are now lining up with miniaturised flagship versions for their users.
The Sony Honami , which is expected to be unveiled in Berlin on September 4, is the company’s newest camera-centric phone. While the smartphone has not yet been introduced by the company, a leak on Esato forums has now revealed the specifications of the Honami mini. The new smartphone comes with the code name Ray 3. And if the leak is true, it seems like Sony may be the first company to bring its flagship smartphone’s specifications to the mini version.
According to the leak, the Sony Honami mini will sport a 4.3-inch Triluminos display with a resolution of 720 x 1280. This is a slight step down for the Honami, which is expected to come with 1080 x 1920 resolution ratio.

Apart from that, the mini version of Sony’s flagship may come with a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC under the hood, as well as 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. There is also mention of a microSD slot as well as a 2400 mAh battery powering the show. The most important part of the leak; the company is planning to bring the same 20.7 megapixel camera in the mini version of the Honami. The same Sony G lens, f/2.0 aperture and 1/2.3 inch sensor will also be featured in the Honami mini. Thus, the only changes expected will be in the size of the screen and the battery.
While this amounts to quite a bit of information, it should be noted that the full-sized model of the Sony Honami has still not been revealed. Thus, it would be wise to rein in expectations till the company officially announces it.
