New iPod Touch and Nano add colour to Apple's charm

After the iPhone 5, Apple has also introduced the new generation iPod Touch and iPod. Here’s a quick look at the features of the new iPod devices.

Apple introduced not only the iPhone 5 last night but it also announced the new generation iPod Touch and iPod Nano. Here’s a quick look at the features of the new iPod devices.

iPod Touch: The iPod Touch 5th generation is now available in only two versions which are the 32 GB and 64 GB, so say goodbye to the 8 GB and 16 GB versions. The new device is also available in five colours now. In addition to Black and White, we have Blue, Yellow and Pink too. It has an anodized aluminum body, the same as a MacBook Air.

As with the new iPhone, the iPod Touch has also become thinner at just 6.1 mm. The previous version was 7.2 mm thick. The screen is also bigger with a 4-inch Display, and a resolution of 1136x640 pixels at 326 pixels per inch.

The new device comes packed with the Dual-Core A5 Chip, the same as an iPhone 4S. This will ensure that even graphic intensive games won’t have any lag.

The iPod Touch camera has also been upgraded to a 5-megapixel iSight camera from the original VGA camera. It also has HD video recording of upto 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second. Apple has also upgraded the front camera, which is mainly used to FaceTime, to 1.2 megapixels. The video for this is also in HD, at 720 pixels and up to 30 frames per second.

Like the iPhone 5, the new generation of iPod Touch will come with the Lightning cable, which is an eight-pin plug. Apple EarPods will also be shipped with this device.

**iPod Nano:**The iPod Nano which is the seventh generation device has also received a major overhaul in terms of colour, body and other features.

At5.4 mm, the newdevice is fifty per cent thinner than the previous one. Like the iPod Touch, it also has an aluminium body. It now has a2.5-inch screen multi-touch screen as compared to the previous version which had1.54 inch screen. The new Nano is now twice as big.

The iPod Nano also comes with Bluetooth 4.0. There’s also Live Pause option for radio where users can a radio broadcast and play it again within a 15 minute time limit. Fast forward for Live Radio is also available.

The Nano also comes with the Apple EarPods. The OS of the Nano hasn’t been mentioned but it’s surely not the iOS 6.

The iPod Nano will be sold in the following colours: Slate, Silver, Purple, Pink, Yellow, Green, Blue. The device is priced at $149 and is available for pre-order from 14 September.
