When Apple recently updated its executive bios, it was supposed to be a normal corporate update on its website. But in an interesting find by
Daring Fireball
, two new bios for Alan Dye and Richard Howarth are part of the list of executives featured among the rest of Apple leadership.
Alan Dye is
Vice President of User Interface Design
according to the bio on the Apple website. Similarly, Richard Howarth is
Vice President of Industrial Design
. Neither of them report to Jonathan Ive, Chief Design Officer at Apple who has also ‘led Apple’s design teams’ since 1996.
In May this year, Apple
promoted its Lead Designer Jonathan Ive to Chief Design Officer
. Back then, it was reported that “the role is a newly created position within Apple and will establish Ive’s leadership. Two others were also promoted: Richard Howard will become head of industrial design and Alan Dye will be the head of user interface. Ive will oversee both departments.”
