No one wants to be left behind when the smartwatch boom comes along. Pebble have the first mover advantage, Samsung has made its moves as well and the Apple Watch will have the brand advantage – so to break into the higher echelons, you need to come up with something pretty special. And at least in terms of looks, Huawei may just have crashed that party. An advertisement has been spotted at Barcelona’s El Prat airport by Android Central which reads as ‘Huawei Watch’. The device will be unveiled at MWC which begins from today. The billboard reads, “Timeless design. Smart within.”. From the looks of it, the watch is in metal and has a circular dial previously seen on the Moto 360. There will be at least three different color and band options namely silver with a matching silver metal bracelet, gold with a brown leather band, and a more casual black model. Huawei has also released two official promotional videos on YouTube revealing some information about the new smartwatch.
The above promotional videos tells us that the circular display of the smartwatch measures 42mm in diameter and will adopt a sapphire display along with a stainless steel unibody casing. There is also a digital crown that will bring the display back to the home watchface. Huawei has also designed a number of various traditional watch faces for the Android Wear device. The bottom of the watch includes a heart-rate monitor and full fitness tracking. Unfortunately, the ad did not reveal any other specifications nor any price or expected availability. Huawei’s press conference at Mobile World Congress will start today at 1800 hrs IST where one will get some more information about the watch.
