New 9.7-inch Apple iPad Pro price details emerge; scheduled for 21 March launch

In the run up to the highly anticipated Apple event where the Cupertino-based company intends to ‘loop’ everyone in, new price details of the expected 9.7-inch iPad Pro are beginning to emerge. Although that’s relatively old news, a new report by 9to5Mac says the smaller iPad Pro is expected to be priced at around $599. At the current exchange rates, this works out to approximately Rs.40000. This move is likely to increase the fragmentation within the tablet space. The larger 12.9-inch iPad Pro that was launched last year will continue to exist. Also, the iPad Air lineup is expected to stay and would continue to be sold at the existing price of $499 according to the report. The addition of the new smaller iPad Pro is expected to be targeted at between the iPad Air and the older iPad Pro. In terms of specifications, it is reported that the new 9.7-inch iPad would come with 12MP that supports 4K recording. As expected, the device would support Apple Pencil and would also have a smaller Smart keyboard, besides the A9X processor that is currently available on the larger iPad Pro. Although an Apple Watch 2 doesn’t seem quite likely, we could expect an announcement regarding new bands and partnerships with fashion companies. In addition, Apple could also announce updates to the operating system across its device portfolio including iOS 9.3, OS X 10.11.4, watchOS 2.2, and tvOS 9.2 at the event as well. A standalone update to iTunes that will enhance the Apple Music experience is also expected to be unveiled during the event.
