Netflix has announced a new update for its Android app adding the much-requested feature for global Netflix users. The company announced that it will now allow downloads to SD cards in the smartphones that sport a microSD card slot as reported by The Verge . This feature is God sent for Netflix users who use smartphones with limited internal storage space. Most system apps or games on Google Play Store contest with each other, making it difficult for the user to use the additional storage space in the form of an expandable storage option.

With the help of this option, the users can transfer or directly download the TV shows or movies to the external storage to free up space in the internal storage for more important apps and services. This addition comes months after the company started adding the ability to add the ability to download content in advance to enable offline viewing. This move was done in order to compete with other competitors in the online streaming market that allowed the users to download content in advance.
The app also allows you to switch between internal and external storage on the fly to specify where you want to download the TV shows. This setting is accessible using the slide-in menu from the right left in the ‘App Settings’ menu. The setting page also shows the free space on the selected partition.
