Winners of the Nexus 7 KitKat contest in India would want to pat themselves on the back. After some winners complained about the fact that they were being given the older edition of the Nexus 7 rather than the 2013 model as advertised, Nestle has decided to correct its goof-up.

In a Facebook post, KitKat announced that it will be contacting users who received the older version of the Nexus 7 and replacing the tablet with the newer variant. The decision will be chalked up as a win for winners, who have pretty much been using every forum to talk about the issue.
The contest which was launched by Nestle and Google in the run up to the release of Android’s latest iteration, dubbed KitKat, promised winners a Nexus 7 tablet. Now, the language on the contest was vague enough to ensure confusion prevailed over which version was going to reach winners. While winners of similar contests all across the world were being given the 2013 variant of the Nexus 7, in India some winners complained about receiving the 2012 version of the tablet.
A little digging around showed that the Nestle had certain discrepancies as far as promising the tablet went. While the company displayed the 2013 version of the Nexus 7 on the ads, it said on the terms and conditions page, “The Pictures of the prizes depicted on the press ads/posters/TVC’c/pack shots etc. are only representative and the actual prize may vary from the depiction.” Despite this, the company also advertised that winners would get the “all new” Nexus 7 as a prize in places.
Dissatisfied winners had taken to social networking websites to complain about being shortchanged by Nestle India and it looks like it has made a difference. The ‘all new’ Nexus 7 should be making its way to them pretty soon.
