Need for Speed: The Run Announced

Yeah I know we’re a bit late in carrying the news but better late than never, right? So anyway, it seems EA’s Need for Speed series is in full swing once again. After Criterion’s Hot Pursuit, it was the sim-like Shift 2 Unleashed after which it’s back to over-the-top racing once again with Need for Speed: The Run.

On the run

Contrary to what the name may suggest, your character in this game will not be in the run from his past or something that meaningful. He will in fact be taking place in an illegal cross country race called The Run that starts in San Francisco and ends in New York. Besides a brief summary of the plot, the only other thing divulged is the fact that the game will be made using DICE’s Frostbite 2.0 engine, the very same engine that’s powering Battlefield 3. This should pave the way for some intense environmental destruction and intense set pieces.

Need for Speed: The Run will be released by the 15th of November 2011 for pretty much every platform out there. Expect a full blown reveal at E3 2011.

Nash, as he prefers being called, woke up to the wonders of gaming rather late but don't bring that up around him. It's a touchy subject. A self confessed Battlefield veteran, Nash spent a good part of 2010 on the Steam Battlefield - with Bad Company (see what we did there?). He has a zero tolerance policy towards RTS games but is currently showing an interest by picking up and moving people - who he refers to as units - in the office. Thank God he's not that enthusiastic about Angry Birds or we'd be seeing women flying all over the place. Bali... Bali, put the receptionist down now. see more
