Need for Speed: Rivals gets new extended cut E3 trailer

EA has released an extended cut version of the trailer for Need for Speed: Rivals that was shown off during this year’s E3. In the trailer, both the cop and the racer get a bit philosophical about who they are and what they do. All the voice-over is shown over in-engine footage, so the trailer will give a pretty good idea of what the game will end up looking like. Check it out:

The first narrator is the cop, who talks about how they push limits in cars they don’t pay for. They also point out that while many consider them thugs, since they can go where they want, whenever they want, the public knows they’re necessary. The racer, on the other hand, sounds a bit like Fight Club’s Tyler Durden. He talks about how he is awake while everyone else is “asleep”.

Need for Speed: Rivals will be coming out on current-generation consoles on November 19. The company has also announced plans to release the game for the next-gen consoles, namely the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, sometime this year. The current-gen platforms that will be getting the game include the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and PC. As of now, EA hasn’t revealed if the Wii U will be getting a version.

Much like the previous game – Most Wanted – Rivals will feature an open world and will have challenges and collectibles. It is being developed by EA’s new studio, Ghost Games. Need for Speed: Rivals will have a greater emphasis on cops vs racers. Much like the previous Hot Pursuit games, Rivals will let players play as both racers and cops, moving up the ranks in their respective “faction” and unlocking new customisation options.
