MySpace Users Phished Again

Popular Social networking site, MySpace is victim to another phishing attack by one of its users. Reports say that a fraudulent login page was created for other MySpace users, so that hackers have access to usernames and email addresses. The information was then sent to a server in France.

According to analysts, the hackers took advantage of the way MySpace organizes URLs in order to give the fake log-in page a believable Web address, something that could confuse even security-conscious users. The attack was launched from a profile page with the user name, login_home_index_html, using specially crafted HTML, to confuse users.

While the login doesn’t give the hackers any credit card information or social security numbers, having one’s MySpace profile hacked means an infringement of privacy. MySpace has been informed of the page, and it has been taken down before further abuse has occurred.
