Our prayers have at last been answered. The venerable Nokia 3310 has been reborn in the modern age and yes, it comes with Snake!

Announced at the end of Nokia’s press event at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in Barcelona, Spain, the new 3310 harks back to the original in design and is targeted at emerging markets, and Africa in particular, by the looks of it.

The Nokia 3310 is a feature phone, so no, it’s not running Android.

The devices features a curved 2.4-inch QCGA screen, a 2MP rear camera with LED flash, a headphone jack, dual-SIM support, FM Radio and an MP3 player. Internal storage is limited to 16MB but it can be expanded by up to 32GB via a microSD card.

Nokia also promises 22 hours of talk-time and a month of standby time from its 1200 mAh battery.

Sadly, one downside to the device is that it only supports a 2G network on the GSM 900 and 1800 MHz bands. This is a problem because no 3G or 4G support means that the device will not work on modern, 4G only networks like Reliance Jio and some European and US networks. This also means that the phone can’t be used, as some were hoping, as a 4G hotspot.

The rest of the connectivity options include Bluetooth 3.0 (with SLAM) and micro USB v2.0.

Regardless, it’s a remake of the 3310 and is hopefully as rugged. The best part is that the phone comes with a brand new version of the iconic Snake game.

In fact, yours truly might pick this phone up just for Snake and nostalgia, as I’m sure many will.

The phone will be available in Warm Red (glossy), Dark Blue (matte), Yellow (glossy) and Grey (matte) shades. Nokia intends to start selling the phone in Q2 this year at a price of around EUR 49 (around Rs 3,500).
