MWC 2016 saw the launch of the budget-friendly Vibe K5 and K5 Plus handsets from Lenovo. The devices are set to retail at $129 and $149 respectively. Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is host to a 5-inch, 1080p screen and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor. Also included is a 2750mAh battery (removable), 16GB in-built storage and support for up to a 32GB microSD card. The speakers support Dolby Atmos technology and are two of them are mounted on the rear to provide stereo audio. The K5 Plus is equipped with a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front one. At just 8.2mm thick and 142g, the device is indeed very light. The K5 Plus will retail for $149 (Rs 10,200) in select countries, starting this March. It will be available in Platinum Silver or Champagne Gold. Lenovo Vibe K5 With a 5-inch HD (720p) display, the Vibe K5 is definitely the K5 Plus’s lesser sibling. Lenovo claims that the device uses their “Vivid wide-view display”, which apparently improves image clarity and vibrancy. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 415 processor with an Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB RAM. As with the K5 Plus, you get 16GB internal storage and support for up to a 32GB microSD card. The device will come in a dual-sim variant and will be available in Platinum Silver, Champagne Gold and Graphite Gray. It’s expected to be priced at $129 (Rs 8,900) and will be sold at around the same time as the K5 Plus. After the wonders of the many wonders of MWC, the device does seem a little uninspiring. That said, it’s not meant to be spectacular.
