MWC 2015: Gionee announces Elife S7 with 5.2-inch full HD display, Android Lollipop

Gionee has launched its latest flagship phone, the slim Elife S7, which is the successor of the Elife S5.5 and Elife S5.1, at MWC on March 2. It comes with an aluminum magnesium allow unibody design and is expected to start selling from April 3 onwards. The pricing of the S7 is at 399 Euros which is approximately around Rs 27,800. Gionee Elife S7 sports a 5.5mm thick edges and comes with a 5.2-inch full HD Super AMOLED display. It houses the 64-bit MediaTek SoC which has a 1.7GHz octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. On the storage front, you will get 16GB of space. This will be the first Gionee smartphone to come with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box which will have Gionee’s proprietary Amigo 3.0 skin on top. In terms of connectivity, the Elife S7 will come with 2G/3G/4G LTE, Wi-fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and Hi-Fi audio. On the camera front, you will get a 13MP rear snapper which will employ Gionee’s new image processing system. This new processing system lets the S7 to capture around 6 images per second. Like one of its predecessor, the Elife E7, the Gionee Elife S7 will also come with an 8MP front facing camera. One issue we had with the Gionee Elife S5.5 was its poor battery life at 2300 mAh. The Elife S7 houses a 2,750 mAh non-removable battery. We can only tell if that has indeed improved the battery life after testing the S7. According to Arvind Vohra, the country CEO and MD of Gionee Smartphones, the response to Elife S5.5 and Elife S5.1 was impressive and the company is expecting huge sales of the Elife S7 as well. He said that the company has managed to sell over 4 million handsets in two years and aims to be in the top 5 smartphone players in the country by the end of the next fiscal year. He also said that all future E and S series Gionee smartphones would be 4G LTE compatible.
