Sony Xperia M2 announced: Stylish mid-ranger to hit stores in April

Along with the high-end **flagship Z2** smartphone and **Z2 Tablet** , Sony has also unveiled the Xperia M2 targeted at the mid-range segment. The M2 is the successor to the **Xperia M** , and comes with significantly improved specs.   The Xperia M2 also gets the OmniBalance design that is seen in the high-end Z2, but reportedly lacks the premium finish. It sports a larger qHD 4.8-inch display with 960x540 pixels resolution and is lightweight at 148 grams. Under the hood, it comes powered by the MSM8926 quad-core Cortex A7 processor that clocks at 1.2GHz and coupled with 1GB RAM. This mid-range smartphone also supports LTE. The MN2 is also expected to get a dual SIM variant, but that model may not support LTE functionality. On the camera front it gets an 8-megapixel camera with Exmor RS for mobile comes armed with Autoscene Recognition and HDR. All of this is fuelled by a 2,300mAh battery.   The device could compete with the popular **Moto G** . A look at the specs, the M2 appears to be very similar to the Motorola phone. The Moto G features a smaller 4.5-inch 720p display and 5MP rear camera. Moreover, Moto G doesn’t support LTE. However, the pricing and performance would be the crucial deciding factors. Though the price isn’t officially revealed, it is speculated to be priced around €220 that translates to around Rs 18,000. Sony is expected to launch the device globally in April. It will be available in black, white and purple colours.
