MWC 2011: Intel Demonstrates MeeGo on a Tablet

It was at the MWC event itself that Nokia’s CEO, Stephen Elop spoke about rejecting Android and back then, he did not reveal much of the MeeGo platform. Anyway, Intel now has given a glimpse of MeeGo’s look and feel.

So, how was it?

According to Darren Wilson, a MeeGo design manager, the operating system puts the “user at the centre”. He also said, “With other operating systems you have to go to applications to find the things that you want and the things that you want to do. With MeeGo, we bring the content closer to you.”

The video below shows how the MeeGo will work and it does look pretty similar to the Eden user interface on the Adam that we saw quite a while back. The navigation through content is quite similar, but what is actually different is that the content is not inside, but right in front of you. All you need to do is to touch a video or picture for a few seconds and a menu pops up, which gives you options to select from.

While the video looks quite convincing, we still haven’t seen it run full-fledged, so it’s too early to comment on it. However, we hope to see more of the MeeGo operating system.
