MWC 2011: HTC Announces Desire S, Wildfire S and Incredible S

All three smartphones from HTC should be releasing sometime in the second quarter of 2011.

MWC 2011: HTC Announces Desire S, Wildfire S and Incredible S

If you’re thinking HTC is still doing the Salsa or Chacha with its Flyer tablet, fact is they are quite serious about the MWC event (something which we already read about). HTC’s focus is not only on smartphones with dedicated buttons but also a few more.

At the MWC event in Barcelona, HTC officially announced the Desire S, Wildfire S and the Incredible S. All these smartphones will be running on Android with only the Incredible S running on Froyo (which will be upgradable) while the other two get Gingerbread love. All three of them have HTC’s Sense UI on top.

The HTC Incredible S has a 1 GHz Scorpion processor at its core and the Adreno 205 GPU to increase the graphics capability of the smartphone. The smartphone also has SNS integration and features standard smartphone sensors like the Proximity Sensor and Accelerometer.  Specs for the smartphone are detailed below:

  • 4-inch S-LCD Capacitive Touchscreen
  • 3G, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, DLNA
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR
  • 8 Megapixel camera with autofocus and dual LED flash
  • 1.3 Megapixel secondary camera
  • 1 GB internal memory expandable up to 32 GB
  • Stereo FM radio with RDS
  • 3.5 mm audio jack

The camera can capture videos at 720 pixels and has geo-tagging, touch-focus and image stabilization.

Desire for one…

HTC’s Desire S has the same processor as that of the Incredible S, including the Adreno 205 graphics processor. The Desire S runs on Android Gingerbread with the HTC Sense UI 3.0 running on top. The smartphone also has SNS integration and sensors for Proximity and an Accelerometer as well. Following are the specs for the Desire S:

  • 3.7-inch S-LCD Capacitive Touchscreen
  • 3G, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, DLNA
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR
  • 5 Megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • VGA secondary camera
  • 1 GB internal memory expandable up to 32 GB
  • Stereo FM radio with RDS
  • 3.5 mm audio jack

Mrs. “Wild"fire

Unlike the other two, the HTC Wildfire S is powered by a rather slower CPU clocking 600 MHz. The smartphone runs on Gingerbread with HTC Sense UI and features Google applications such as Google Search, Maps and Gmail along with SNS integration. The specs are as follows:

  • 3.2-inch Capacitve Touchscreen
  • 3G, Wi-Fi, A-GPS,
  • Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP and EDR
  • 5 Megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • Memory expandable up to 32 GB

All three smartphones are expected to ship sometime between April and June. Lets hope we get a peek at them sooner.
