Mumbai-based startup to launch Quikwallet mobile money app

A Mumbai-based technology start-up, LivQuik, has developed a mobile money application dubbed Quikwallet. Currently, the startup is beta testing the app for feedback with a controlled user group at coffee shops like Gloria Jeans and Mocha. Consumers willing to participate in the beta test can do so by registering at the LivQuik website, but the selection will depend upon their location.

The app serves as a mobile wallet, which can be used to pay at retail outlets and restaurants using the smartphone. Payments can be made via the app using technologies such as QR codes or NFC. It also lets you manage your credit, debit and loyalty cards. The company now plans to ramp up the team in engineering, operations and marketing, as the final launch of the app is expected within the next six months.

On the other hand, it is said to be quite easy for merchants too. They wouldn’t require any additional hardware and the QuikWallet API can be integrated with any Point of System (POS) Software. They can configure their own loyalty program, negating any upfront costs.  The company will charge a merchant per-user or per-transaction fee.

Commenting on the occasion, Mohit Lalvani, Co-Founder and Managing Director, said, “We are delighted to partner with Snow Leopard Technology Ventures. We built the product because there was a clear gap in the Indian market. While there are many mobile wallets per se, there is no mobile app or service similar to QuikWallet today. We’ve made it seamless for users and painless for merchants. Gloria Jeans Coffee and Mocha are confirmed launch partners and consumers will soon be able to pay with their smart phones at these outlets.”

The app is expected to be made available for leading mobile OS’ such as Android, iOS and BlackBerry.
