As expected Microsoft has released 11 security patches for products across its Office and Windows Platforms. Among the 11 patches a total of 28 security issues have been fixed which makes this the largest security rollout outside of the last released service pack.
Of the various critical updates two are for the Windows OS, which fix remote execution vulnerabilities in XML core services and in Windows Shell respectively. For the Office platform, similar exploits have been fixed for PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
In the Windows Server platforms two moderate bugs that could have led to privilege escalations have been fixed. Finally one important point to note in this release also marks the end of support for Windows XP SP1.
