Mozilla previews two developer smartphones with Firefox OS

The Mozilla organisation, developer of the open-source browser Firefox, has now made available two developer smartphones for testing out its new mobile OS.

Mozilla is also currently holding its Firefox OS App Days, a twenty-day event to allow developers to create apps for the Firefox OS.

The two smartphones that Mozilla is previewing are being developed by Geeksphone in partnership with Telefonica. The group hopes to make these smartphones available in February.

As Mozilla’s blogpost reads, the new OS will rely on HTML5, CSS, Java for apps and the attempt will be to ensure that you are not locked in to a vendor-controlled ecosystem. App developers can distribute theirapps through the Firefox Marketplace, their own website, or any other store based on Mozilla’s open app store technology.
