Mozilla has made some big announcements today. The company has launched new Focus by Firefox ad blocker for the iPhone and iPad. The company has also revealed that it will stop doing the Firefox OS phones. Focus by Firefox, the latest content-blocking app from Mozilla will allow iPhone and iPad users to selectively block advertisements and third-party website plugins that are known to send back information to that site. It is aimed at putting an end to intrusive ads and unwanted Internet software. Such ad blockers are also known to be harmful to the online ecosystem, and probably that’s what compelled Peace ad blocker to be pulled out by its own developer. Besdies, news also has it that Mozilla is all set to pull the shutter on its low-end Firefox phones. The company has confirmed this news to Techcrunch stating, “Firefox OS proved the flexibility of the Web, scaling from low-end smartphones all the way up to HD TVs. However, we weren’t able to offer the best user experience possible and so we will stop offering Firefox OS smartphones through carrier channels.” At Mobile World Congress last year, Mozilla unveiled plans to expand to additional markets in Latin America and eastern Europe, and also announced a blueprint for any phone maker to make $25 Firefox OS smartphones, which it delivered with the Spice Fire One, priced at Rs 2,299.   However, Mozilla’s Firefox OS as a smartphone operating system has had a negligible impact on the market, ever since it got a retail release in 2013.
