Motorola unveils first ad for the X Phone

Motorola has unveiled the first ad for the fabled Moto X phone. According to Adage, the first ad will be a full-page spread in the July 3 editions of The New York Times, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and Washington Post. In the ad, Motorola touts the X Phone as being the first smartphone designed, engineered and assembled in the US, and sets a generally patriotic tone for the country by talking about its independence day tomorrow.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

“What we are doing which is very different is assembling [Moto X smartphones] here in the U.S. in our assembly plant in Fort Worth, Texas,” Brian Wallace, Motorola’s Vice President of Global Brand and Product Marketing, said. “What better time than July 4th to come with a message like that?”

According to the ad, the Moto X will be the “first smartphone that you can design yourself.” The ad then goes on to talk about freedom and uniqueness. It also promises that “this is just the beginning.”

“Smartphones are very different than other tech products a consumer owns,” Wallace said. “They’re closer to shoes or a watch. You carry it with you everywhere you go. Everyone sees what phone you’re carrying and they judge you on it. Yet it’s the one thing you carry that’s the least customizable.”

Neither the ad nor Wallace talk about any hardware specifics of the Moto X. However, we have a solid idea of what the specifications of the phone will be thanks to numerous leaks. The Moto X will not feature top of the line hardware, instead will compete with the mid-rangers in the market currently. It will have a Qualcomm MSM8960 Pro dual-core processor, clocked at 1.7GHz. This may not be able to go toe-to-toe with the quad-core CPUs of flagships today, but we are hoping there’s some killer optimisation to make software run smoothly.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
