Motorola starts rolling out Android 4.4.2 KitKat for Moto G

Motorola has started rolling out Android 4.4.2 KitKat for the budget smartphone, Moto G. The Moto G is expected to enter the Indian market in January, so it could come with Android 4.4 KitKat, right out of the box, making it the second such phone after the recently-launched Nexus 5.

The update is now rolling out for Moto G units purchased from Motorola’s website and Amazon in the US. The company will soon begin rolling out the update to carriers and other regions. It comes as a holiday season surprise, as until now it was believed that Motorola will be rolling out the update some time in January 2014. They’ve managed to bring in an early update, surprising many users.

Moto G will soon be flaunting KitKat

The Moto G has been receiving loads of accolades for its performance, build and price. Priced at $179 which amounts to approximately Rs 10,900 for an 8GB off-contract unit, it puts every other budget Android smartphone to shame. It is definitely one of the best value for money devices. Google, which owns Motorola, is taking a thin-margin approach to the Moto G, which costs the company $123 to build, in terms of component and assembly costs.
