Motorola Plans to Make The Monsoons Wilder

Just as monsoons are hitting India, we’re all on the lookout for many so-called “waterproof” handsets. While the Defy looks like a good option, it might not really cater to the lower-budget segment. So, Motorola has announced a feature phone called the Wilder and although it’s not hit the Indian market, it certainly looks quite appealing for our conditions.

The Wilder doesn’t have much to boast of in terms of specifications, but one of the main qualities it has is that the phone is dust and splash resistant. While it’s not a smartphone, it has a touchscreen and there’s no mention of what User interface it will be running on. Just below the touchscreen, there’s a small OLED screen for notifications, which looks quite cool. The specifications of the handset are as follows:

  • 2.8-inch resistive touchscreen
  • EDGE/GPRS
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, EDR
  • 2 Megapixel camera
  • FM Radio
  • 3.5 mm audio jack
  • Memory expandable up to 32 GB

The handset will also feature SNS integration for those of you constantly twiddling around Facebook or Twitter. There’s MP3, WAV, MP4 and H.264 formats that can be supported by the Wilder. You can check out the promo video below.

It’s priced at £49.95 which is approximately Rs. 3,700 and looks pretty neat, but lets hope to see it make a splash in India, soon enough.
