Motorola Moto Z Play had been hiding in the shadows for long, but it is now time for it show up since the older Moto X Play is getting a bit too outdated. While it has leaked out once with with recently announced Moto Z and Moto Z Force, details about its specifications were sparse until now.
A leaked GFXBench result from Mobile Xpose has spilled the beans on the upcoming Moto Z Play. Going by the looks of it, it will pack in plenty and should also be priced in the range of Asus Zenfone 3 at launch.
Leaks have revealed that unlike the previous X Play, the Z Play does pack in a better construction with metal and glass and will also play well with Motorola's Moto Mods add-ons. This also means that we see the 16 pin connector on the back of the device.
Coming to the leaked specifications, they hint at the presence of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 inside clocked at 2.0GHz (Cortex A53 cores), 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Graphics will be handled by the Adreno 506 GPU.
Adding to the impressive spec sheet is a 16MP rear camera. Add to this a 5MP front-facing camera, 4K video support (yes, the 625 can handle it) and 3,510mAh battery and you get the picture, this will turn out to be a slim yet capable mid-range with the power to match.
Another detail which was leaked out thanks to the benchmark result was the Android 6.0.1. Yes, sadly the smartphone will not pack in Android 7.0 Nougat, so after the expected launch on 6 September, owners will have to play the waiting game even with a brand new smartphone in hand.
