Update: Flipkart has now changed its “Out of stock” message to " We have stock and we’ll be back soon. " So, probably as soon as the glitch is fixed, customers should be able to buy the Moto E.

Motorola’s Moto E that went back on sale today at 11AM, exclusively via Flipkart is now out of stock. Only 20,000 units were put up for sale, and now the site has put up  message stating, " Out of stock but coming soon."  Looks like, there were too many takers for the Moto E as several users repeatedly got error messages stating ‘Internal server error’. Several buyers had already begun venting frustration on Twitter. Flipkart kept saying that it is working on fixing it.  Looks like they were unable to fix the issue. Flipkart has put up the ‘Out of stock’ message  and the devices will be up for grabs as soon as the issue is fixed. This seems like a temporary measure from Flipkart’s side to fix the issue as we doubt a single customer was actually able to make the purchase. Instead of being bombarded by requests, Flipkart has disabled the ‘Buy Now’ button till they can get things in order.

Flipkart has also started selling swappable back covers called Motorola Shells dipped in nine vivid colours - lemon, turquoise, raspberry, violet, chaulk, royal blue, spearmint, cherry and licorice.  Each Moto Shell comes at a steep price of Rs 899, especially considering the device is aimed at entry users and priced at Rs 6,999. However, launch day offer, allows users to buy the cover at 50 percent discount that amounts to approximately Rs 450.

Moto E is aimed at entry-level users, and could put any budget Android to shame. It gets a slightly smaller 4.3-inch qHD display, and a pixel density of 256 ppi. The rugged device comes with waterproof capabilities, and the display is scratch-resistant. Under the hood, it is powered by a dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.2GHz coupled with 1GB RAM. Read our complete  Moto E review , to know more.

Priced at Rs 6,999, the Moto E could shake up the entry-level segment, especially threatening phones  from the likes of Micromax, Karbonn, Lava etc . It also gets the better of comparably-priced  entry-level models from the likes of Samsung and Sony . The out-of-stock status for the Moto E just underlines how much of a threat it is to these brands.

While Motorola has been doing very well in India with the Moto G and to some extent, the Moto X, the company plans to add to its portfolio in the country. Soon, India will see the  Moto 360 smartwatch come to market and with the same competitive pricing that has become a hallmark of Motorola’s comeback to the Indian market.
