Motorola hoping to sell half a million Moto E units in India

The new budget smartphone from Motorola, Moto E, could help the company cross half a million units in India since they launched the Moto G in India in February.  The Moto E is priced at Rs 6,999 and comes with a 4.3-inch screen with Gorilla Glass 3, 1 GB RAM and pure Android 4.4 KitKat.   A report on AndroidOS.in quotes Motorola Mobility India General Manager Amit Boni as saying, “We have seen tremendous response for Moto G and Moto X and we are confident of crossing the half million units sales mark in the next few days. Moto E, our latest launch, will further fuel the growth that we have seen in Indian market.”   Boni made the remarks at the launch event of the Moto E.   Like the Moto G and Moto X, the smartphone is exclusively available on Flipkart.   According to an earlier report on Economic Times, “Flipkart’s vice-president for retail Michael Adnani had said the company has ensured that nearly 1 lakh Moto E devices have been brought to India, and more orders would be placed with manufacturers in China when sales pick up pace.”   However it seems that company has already  run out of stock – the phone is listed as coming soon on the website with a waiting period of 10 to 15 days.   Flipkart has not yet released numbers related to the kind of response the Moto E has generated on the website. In the case of the middle-budget Moto G, it was the fastest selling smartphone on Flipkart and according to Flipkart, its total mobiles sales were five times that of its usual daily mobile sales when the Moto G was launched.   How the Moto E eventually does for Motorola and Flipkart remains to be seen but given the price-point and specs with which it comes, there’s no doubt that this smartphone is all set to be a winner.
