Motorola has changed its stance after reports that the company will not issue an upgrade for Moto G4 emerged. According to
a report by Android Police, Motorola issued a statement saying that it will issue an upgrade to
**Moto G4 Plus** . This means that the company will only upgrade G4 Plus and leave out Moto G4 and G4 Play on Android Nougat 7.0. [caption id=“attachment_3960103” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Android Oreo.[/caption] The company issued an apology in its statement to Android Police stating:
“It’s been brought to our attention that there were some errors in our marketing materials around **Android O** upgrades for Moto G4 Plus. This was an oversight on our part and we apologise for this miscommunication.”
The interesting thing to note here is that Moto G4, G4 Plus and G4 Play pack similar hardware which means that in theory, the company can issue **Android 8.o Oreo** upgrade to the G4 and G4 Play as pointed in the report. Motorola has not issued any estimate about how long it will take the company to issue the upgrade. The company pointed out in the statement, “Because this is an unplanned upgrade, it will take some time to fit it into our upgrade schedule.”
