Motorola Alert app keeps your loved ones informed of your whereabouts

Moto E launched by Motorola has generated a lot of buzz for offering amazing set of features at a budget price tag. But what might have gone unnoticed is an app called Motorola Alert that lets the users notify their contacts whenever they are in an emergency situation. This is similar to a bunch of third-party apps that are offered on the Play Store.

The Alert app sends location updates along with regular alerts to important pre-assigned contacts. The app sends these alerts when you trigger the emergency mode. It also lets you pre-define locations such workplace, home or school, so your contacts know whenever you have arrived at or left the location. The feature could also come in handy for parents who want to keep a track of their kids' whereabouts at school or in transit.

Besides, you can also set up the app to ping your location to select few contacts from time to time. Best thing about the app is that your contacts do not need to have the app installed on their phone to receive notifications. By offering this service as a native app, Motorola is hoping that the need for such third-party apps is removed.

The app is currently available only for Moto G (LTE model) and Moto E and can be downloaded from Play Store. As of now, it is not known whether we will see the app for Moto G (3G) or even the Moto X.
