We know you’ve probably heard this several times before, but it looks like Instagram could be looking to make its way to Windows Phone soon. According to a report, Nokia’s Executive Vice President Chris Webber made a couple of remarks that hinted towards Instagram coming to the operating system.
Webber took to Twitte r later to say that he had been misquoted about the app coming up for Windows Phone soon but said that Nokia is still working hard to make it happen. Even while he’s denied that the app will be announced soon, Nokia’s involvement with getting Instagram to Windows Phone hints at the fact that it’s only a matter of time now.
Come soon?
There are plenty of top notch applications available for Windows Phone users right now but Instagram has been conspicuous by its absence. The photo-editing application owned by Facebook has been one of the top most requested applications by users. Nokia has been an important voice demanding that Instagram come to Windows Phone devices soon. The Finnish giant even goaded users to take to Twitter and tweet to Instagram using the hashtag “#2InstaWithLove” so that the app makers realise the demand for it.
Rumours about Instagram coming to Windows Phone have been doing the rounds since months now but with no results. Meanwhile, a new application called 6tag has been launched for Windows Phone that comes the closest to being a full-fledged application for sharing on Instagram. The Facebook-owned application seems to have little love lost for Windows Phone app developers. In a sweeping change to its brand policy, Instagram has banned the usage of the words “Instag” or “Gram” within third-party applications on any platform. In order to keep its brand name unique and well-recognised, Instagram has barred users to use a combination of any of these words with others as a brand name.
