Apple is expected to bring Force Touch to its upcoming smartphone and a new report offers details on how it might work. It will basically be used to access shortcuts, pull up menus, and activate new functions. Apple is most likely to hold an event on September 9.
According to a report by 9to5mac, the iOS version of Force Touch is known internally as 'Orb.' Force Touch on the iPhone has been designed to skip existing lists of options or button presses. The report added, a new user to the Force Touch experience can look up a point of interest in the Maps application, and then Force Touch on the destination to immediately begin turn-by-turn directions.
In the Music application, a user can Force Touch on a listed track to be presented with some of the most commonly-used actions. A source told 9to5mac that another feature in testing, are shortcuts that appear after Force Touching an app icon on the Home screen.
Apart from Force Touch, the report states that the iPhone 6s will feature 4K video recording, 2GB of RAM, faster LTE speeds, and the new A9 processor.
It should be noted that the company had launched its iPhone 6 models last year on the same date. Going by the reports, Apple plans to launch the new devices dubbed iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus phablet this year. These will be the successors to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, respectively. Besides, the company is also expected to launch the iPhone 6C.
