Monster India comes to the Windows Phone platform

Windows Phone is growing as a major mobile platform and while a lot of the bigger apps like Facebook, Twitter and Angry Birds already exist on the platform, there is still visible room for growth for developers. MonsterIndia.com already has apps on the Android and BlackBerry platforms (note iOS is still missing). Now it’s made its move on to the Windows Phone platform. Sanjay Modi, Managing Director, Monster.com (India/ Middle East/ South East Asia) commented on the launch saying, “At Monster, our goal is to connect seekers to the right career opportunities by giving them a variety of mobile and web site options  that meet their job search needs.. The mobile industry in India is growing at a rapid pace. According to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) this country’s mobile subscriber base has increased from 893.84 million in December 2011 to 903.73 million in January 2012. Looking at this growth, we are confident that new media especially mobile technology will continue to play a pivotal role in empowering the jobseekers.”

MonsterIndia on Windows Phone provides job seekers with the benefit of finding employment on the go. Mobile users can not only view jobs on the go, but also apply to them through their Windows Phone smart device. Monster India has also integrated the application with the features that Windows Phone offers. Vineet Durani, Director - Windows Phone Business Group, Microsoft Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. said, “The Windows Phone app universe is growing at an unprecedented pace, and we already have over 70,000 apps available through Marketplace. Developed on the unique Metro UI, these apps are tightly integrated into the Windows Phone thus making them smarter and more fun.”

Jobseekers can pin jobs to their Windows Phone home screen. Once a section or a feature is pinned, it’s always on as a tile on the user’s start screen. This will allow the user to always be able to navigate to the pinned section, having direct access to a pinned job. Jobseekers will also have access to newly posted jobs that match their profile. The alerts will be available on the Windows Phone start screen for pinned applications. Monster says that the app can be downloaded from the Monster India website, but it doesn’t seem available from there yet. It doesn’t seem available in the Windows Phone Marketplace yet, so stay tuned for a launch update.

Paddy does not, we repeat, definitely does NOT belong in the category of Mac-head (yeh right!). She does get excited by her iPhone and her iMac and her iPod Nano and her Macbook and Bali's iPad and her future iHouse (patent pending). Ok, so maybe her head is a little bit forbidden fruit shaped. She likes shooting video (iPhone 4 camera zindabad!) and editing montages (Final Cut Pro zindabad!), whether the scene calls for it or no. In her spare time, she's either kicking it on stage with KB the keyboard or kicking butt at Taekwondo. see more
